Our Story

Welcome to The Green Edit, your go-to destination for green, high-performance beauty.

We’re a platform dedicated to explaining and promoting the best in clean, sustainable, cruelty-free beauty and lifestyle products. We do this through three main channels:

- Our in-person events

- The Green Edit Podcast

- The Best Of The Green Edit Awards

- Our Digital Content Offering

The Green Edit mission is simple: to explore and unpack the idea of clean beauty. We shine a light on brands that are sustainable, cruelty-free and formulated with high quality, clean ingredients. But we don’t want to lose out on efficacy or experience. In essence, we want to inspire you to re-think your routine; to discover cleaner options and new favourites.

We also take a curious, open-minded approach to our work, and want our community to do the same. We ask questions, facilitate conversations and most importantly, are always evolving. On our digital platform, you’ll find interviews with brand founders, expert commentary and lots of product recommendations (as tested by us).

We also have our Loved By The Green Edit Stamp and Recognised By The Green Edit stamp. Both stamps entail a certain set of criteria as mapped out by our founder and team of editors. They’re designed to communicate our definition of clean, and to help you, our reader, make an informed decision about the products you buy.

We don’t subscribe to greenwashing or fear mongering. We just want to give our community the tools they need to make an informed decision. Plus, who doesn’t love a 10/10 mascara/moisturiser/body oil recommendation?

So please enjoy, and thank you for joining our conscious community. We’re very happy to have you.

Cathy Tolpigin

Cathy Tolpigin is an organic makeup artist, founder and curator of The Green Edit, an innovative digital platform and event series that promotes the best in clean beauty and lifestyle brands.

As a professional makeup artist who only uses clean, ethical products on both herself and clients, Cathy is passionate about making green beauty mainstream. She aims to inspire and educate without greenwashing, helping The Green Edit community to navigate the space with transparency.

Over the years, Cathy has researched, tried and tested hundreds of beauty and lifestyle products to find the best high performance, ethical and clean options on the market. The best of the best is what earns a place on The Green Edit.

When it comes to her personal beauty routine, Cathy seeks the whole package: truly natural products formulated with organic and botanical ingredients. They must be high performance, innovative, beautifully packaged and luxurious, all without compromising on the important aspects of sustainability, health and ethics.

Her views are informed by her career, as well as countless conversations with beauty formulators, developers and holistic health professionals. Combining this with personal research and her own health journey, Cathy is well-versed in the ambiguity of clean beauty, and strives to make the space more accessible for everyone. To read more about Cathy’s definition of clean beauty, see the The Green Edit stamp criteria.

Conscious Collaborations

The Green Edit X Look Good Feel Better

We love to give back and as a makeup artist, our founder Cathy Tolpigin loves supporting Look Good Feel Better over the years by running skincare and makeup workshops. She has seen women enter the workshops with sadness and apprehension, it quickly transforms into a sense of relief and comfort, just by being in the same room with others who understand what they are going through.

The Green Edit would love to support this amazing organisation further by donating proceeds from event ticket sake in 2022 and 2023.

Following the devastating bushfires of 2020, we teamed up with One Tree Planted to ensure a tree was planted for every ticket sold to The Green Edit Event in March.

And ahead of the bushfire season we launched our Organic Koala Charity Tee initiative. 100% of profits went to The Koala Hospital at Port Macquarie, who treat and rehabilitate orphaned, sick and injured koalas.

And Lord Somers Camp and Powerhouse Be Deadly Program, they facilitate activities and camps for young Indigenous youth to assist in the development of cultural identity, confidence and leadership.

Our limited edition GOTS certified organic cotton tees feature a bespoke artwork created by mother and daughter Indigenous artists Lyn-Al and Judith Young.

The artwork they created together features a burning and water colour technique that is a celebration of their family, these techniques have been passed down from previous generations.
